Homeowner wanted authentic natural Galvalume finish β less common in residential applications, requires correct clip spacing to prevent oil-canning.
Clean natural Galvalume installation with proper floating clips; zero paint means zero fading over the 60-year life.
About This Project
This Bouldin Creek homeowner wasn't filing a claim β they were doing a planned renovation and had wanted standing seam since they bought the house. The goal was a natural, unpainted Galvalume finish: the mill-finish aluminum-zinc alloy that develops a subtle silvery patina over time and defines the Texas modern farmhouse aesthetic.
No HOA, no insurance constraints β just executing the install correctly. The roof is a simple gable with a modest pitch, which made it ideal for showcasing the clean horizontal panel lines. We used 16" panels with concealed floating clips to allow full thermal expansion without oil-canning.
Natural Galvalume won't fade because there's no paint to fade. The surface is self-healing at minor scratches and will outlast the home's other finishes by decades.
